Oh dear, where do I begin?
For a start, nobody within the Canaan Dog breed has ever heard of the author, Joy Levine. Not one respected Canaan Dog Breeder or Canaan Dog owner was consulted during the research for this book, and one has to wonder where on earth they found some of the information written within it.
The book is so full of incorrect information that is very detrimental to the Canaan Dog. It leaves the reader with the impression that Canaan Dogs are aggressive towards humans and other dogs and animals. If I had read this book before knowing about the Canaan Dog, I probably would never have purchased one!
I have also had some people say to me that they thought it must be correct because it was produced by the Kennel Club. Please note that The Kennel Club did NOT produce this book. Rather it is a publishing company in the USA that have called their series of books on dog breeds "Kennel Club". It has nothing whatsoever to do with The Kennel Club organisation in the UK.
There have been a number of reviews for this book, yet just one has anything good to say about it. Interestingly the writer of that review is the owner/breeder of the dogs pictured on the front cover.
If you are looking for a book to give you accurate information on Canaan Dogs, then I can NOT recommend that you buy this one!
