Yes, very good information. Thank you. I'm learning all I can about this breed. I feel the BAER testing should be of common practice as there is so much care and consideration taken with every other aspect in protecting their preservation.

I had 3 puppies who where deaf in all canaan puppies I had. The first one was on the first litter I had. He was white, and no one noticed because he always was whith the others, acting and barking as they would do. We only knew when he was with his familly.... and I regret not to have known before he goes. The 2nd one was a cream girl. The 3rd one was black and white, as a multitude of black tiny black spot.... She was put to sleep when she was 8 weeks old. But of course in that time I did not write down who were the parents.
I also had Puck ( 11 years old) and Pietro (9 years old) who had degenerative myelopathy. Both had to be put to sleep when they could not move anymore.. Now Sufat has got it, and does not put her left rear foot well... but she still runs, and barks, and fight.... She is 11 years old in a few days.
Still I beleive, that in one way, it is good for the breed that no one is realy interested by breeding in France.... but when I see other breeds, I do tell myself that Canaans are realy a sane breed.... When I look at so many breeds, I'm afraid for the dogs...

I enjoyed reading your article and found it informative. It was a pity about the 'witch hunt' comment directed at one unnamed breeder.
